Daddy Rocks
I love that my dad will call me up on Sunday and tell me if he hit any shows over the weekend. He’s always been an avid music fan, playing records every Saturday and Sunday. Blasting everything from the Eagles to Dionne Warwick. He just loves it, and my brother and I followed suit. We are not musicians, but we have always surrounded ourselves with local bands and musicians, reveling in their talents. For me, going to shows was like going to church and I fell in love with the community and scene we had here in RVA. We still do fortunately, just a little more work to discover the new cats.
I have several musician friends who along the way became dads. I’d see and still see their little ones, earphones on, rockin’ out to daddy playing on stage. I’d have to say one of the most sweetest things for me is when the dads play for their kids, always looking over at them with a knowing wink.
So in celebration of the upcoming Father’s Day, I thought it’d be cool to showcase some of my cool dad friends who are still killing it on stage. They are all very talented with amazing kids and I’m sure some of those offspring will grow up to don their own stages in the future.
